Making Polymer Clay Masks
How do I measure for using glass doll’s eyes?
I’m trying to make polymer clay masks more personable by adding doll’s eyes. How do I measure for this and convert that measurement over to the metric system used by these companies?
Found on an ebay forum:
“Take a slip of paper and put it inside the head up against the eye cut. Then, take a sharp pencil and trace the socket from the front. After you have your trace, measure from one corner to the other using mm. Add 2mm to your final measurement. ”

Eye Measurement Tool
To make a handy measurement tool, cut a piece of plastic from a margerine tub lid (or the cardboard that you get in a package of pantyhose) into a 4″ x 4″ square.
Cut this square diagonally into 2 equal triangles.
Place the pointed end of the triangle into the bisque-fired doll’s eye socket until the triangle touches the edges of the socket. Mark both edges of the plastic at this spot.
Measure between the marks on the cardboard and convert the inches to millimeters
and you have the correct eye size.
